On April 21st, 1836, in a part of Northern Mexico known as Tejas, a band of rugged pioneers won the historic “Battle of San Jacinto.” Shortly after this decisive victory, peace treaties were signed, and the independence of Texas was established. This red wine celebrates the spirit of those who fought for the great Republic of Texas.
Our 2018 vintage of 1836 Red wine is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Syrah, all sourced from Dell Valley Vineyard in West Texas. Good extraction during fermentation and sur lie aging in 100% new oak allowed us to create a rich yet balanced red wine. This wine pours a deep purple/red color, and contains extraordinary fruit extraction that includes red currant, black cherry, coconut crème, with hints of black pepper and spice. Textured mouthfeel and a lengthy finish await the first sip of this structured and bold wine.
This is a perfect wine to enjoy with your favorite cut of steak, or aged cheddar cheeses.
