The purpose of this release is to focus on a wine’s “sense of place”, which is known in the wine industry as the concept of “terroir”. This concept can be defined as the encompassing environment, including soil, climate, and topography which are key components in determining the final taste of the wine. This wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, grown within the 1,000,000+ acre Texas High Plains AVA!
The wine shows a ruby red hue that is not quite opaque but darker than average. The aromatics are what we call “high tone red fruits” (think ripe cranberry or raspberry with some herbal notes) that are intense and don’t need much coaxing to lift out of the glass. The palate shows jammy fruits with velvety, but weighty tannins, and a lengthy finish.
